Yangon is Myanmar’s largest city and most important commercial centre.
The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) will invite Yangon to jointly implement the C/Can 2025: City Cancer Challenge programme, according to reports.
The UICC is an international NGO dedicated to helping the global community advance the fight against cancer.
The Ministry of Health and Sport will cooperate with the UICC on the programme.
The two entities met for the first time on July 17 in Yangon and talked about prevention, early cancer diagnosis and treatments.
The cancer challenges programme will be based on current healthcare infrastructure and provide multidisciplinary treatment and palliative care for end-of-life patients.
The programme is expected to support emergency needs, cancer medicine and treatment technologies, and it is planning to join hands with all individuals and organisations fighting cancer.
