Intrepid Lankan journalist Macan Markar has cornered the new Executive Director of UNAIDS for this interview. The last paragraph is interesting. He appears to say that it is “we” or UNAIDS that is reopening the discussion with the Global Fund in Myanmar. It is the Country Coordinating Mechanism that opened the discussion.

HIV prevalence figures are often released to the mass media and presented without the information that allow HIV professionals to make programmatic decisions based on them. In the past only sex workers in Mandalay and Yangon were tested and the sampling was biased. This (sentinel?) survey data may be better. Can any readers help?

A sex work guidance document has just been published by UNAIDS. It is a big improvement over the last one.
