3N holds second annual meeting

THE annual meeting of the National NGO Network on HIV and AIDS (3N) was held at the Chatrium Hotel from January 26 to 27.

3N, a network of 105 local NGOs working on HIV/AIDS activities in Myanmar, was formed in January 2008 to exchange information about the disease and to enhance capacity-building among their organisations.

U Myint Swe, the president of the Ratana Metta Organisation, one of 3N’s members, said the aim of the meeting was to review work done in 2009 and the 2010 work plan, to discuss difficulties facing the organisations and to strengthen the network.

“Some organisations want to work on HIV/AIDS activities, but they are weak in implementation. The meeting enhances their capacity-building,” U Myint Swe said.

“In some areas, we found that organisations working on HIV/AIDS are overlapping and in some remote areas there are gaps. That was something we wanted to discuss at the meeting, which was very beneficial for the member organisations,” he said
