A heartfelt thank you to everyone of his readers who commented on postings this year. Some recent anonymous comments received by the moderator regarding HIV Information for Myanmar [him] postings are here:
On Prasada Rao's comments on getting to zero: "Whatever Prasada Rao says,we need to prove that he can be wrong, so let us all work together to achieve the zeroes."
On the Eleven Myanmar article on ADB secrecy: "PLHIV will be provided of access to ART by next year," what are they living on now? And since 2002?"
On sex worker-run programmes being effective: "Where did they get the number 70% of MSM covered by PSI? To be able to determine that number don't they need to have a base line estimate of total MSM? And where did they get that officially recognised number?"
On the inacessibility of the Spotlight on Myanmar presentations: "Yes, it would be nice if we who could not attend get to read about the presentations and the discussions."
On AIDS Myanmar Association: "Does Ditmore really not know about the Sex Workers in Myanmar network (SWIM)? Completely sex worker run, not aligned to an INGO, doing great work. It was SWIM that recently spoke in Parliament about sex worker issues."
And a comment from Gillian Fletcher on the Mizzima article: "Most HIV prevention operates on false assumptions: 1) that the problem is one of factual knowledge (! as if); 2) that all we need to do is hand that knowledge down (yes, even so-called 'peers' hand knowledge down) and 3) that if people do not change their behaviour then it is their fault, not ours. How about we stop repeatedly telling sex workers and men who have sex with men things that they already know - like how to put a condom on! - and start listening to their experiences and learn from their resilience?"
