Seen a lot of media workshops over the past twenty years.

Journalists write the text but editors write headlines. They need to be on board, too.

And evaluations are few and far between. Is the change in quality and quantity of reporting on HIV measured? How?

HIV Prevention: One-Day Media Workshop

The Internews and UNAIDS organized a workshop on "The Right Messages for the Right Response" for media person on the HIV and related human rights issues in Yangon, Wednesday.
Myanmar is one of the countries in the Asia which is hit by HIV. The awareness of HIV response and human rights issues among the public plays a crucial part.
Advisor (HIV Prevention), UNAIDS, Geraldine Cazorla: In Myanmar there are approximately 185,000 people who are living with HIV and in 2013 more than 6000 people were infected new infection of HIV so you understand is very important to stress on the need to improve prevention, affective prevention to tackle the epidemic.
In addition to the workshop, 3-day training will provide the journalists for more understanding in reporting on HIV related issues.
Project Director, Internews Europe, Michael Pan: From the workshop, we will continue with 3days training in which the participating journalist will be trained intensively and also they will produce media outputs. And also we have a small grant program in which journalist can actually to field reporting not just in Yangon they can go to ethnic state and to intent reporting on HIV issues.
About 30 journalists and other human rights organizations are participating in this workshop to share their knowledge.
Commissioner, Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, Dr. Nyan Zaw: We conduct the educative trainings about the human rights not only for the people with the HIV positive but also for all walks of life. If the knowledge can be disseminated to the public through the Medias, it will be much benefited.
