The Mandalay based Ananta Metta Project is conducting weekly meditation courses for people living with HIV. They are also arranging two Dhamma Discourses on reducing stigma and discriminition against PLHIV and intend to produce VCD/DVD of the discourses to distribute to the public on a non-profit basis. The Discourses will be delivered by the distinguished Dhamma Teacher Dhamma Kahtika in February 2009. Ananta Metta is also implementing participatory learning workshops based on the training manual "HIV Prevention and Aids Care - A Buddhist Approach" which was developed by Sangha Metta, has been published in English, translated into Thai, Dzongka, Laos, Vietnamese and Khmer and is now being translated into Burmese. Ananta Metta is also conducting a study on the impact of vipassana meditation on people infected with/affected by HIV. The results will be published once the study has been completed, hopefully in time to present at ICAAP in Bali later this year.
