Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (APN+) is currently looking for someone to fill its Positive IDU Working Group Coordinator's position. The Positive IDU Working Group is a working group of APN+ for HIV Positive IDU in the Asia Pacific Region.

Based in Bangkok, this challenging post will involve working and liaising with a dedicated team of Positive IDU, community based HIV treatment advocates, human rights groups, grass-root organizations, and donor agencies throughout Asia and the Pacific Region. A willingness and proven commitment to working for Positive IDU is essential for the successful candidate.

APN+, a registered foundation in Thailand, has a policy of employing wherever possible persons living with HIV. IDU living with HIV are encouraged to apply for this position.

Asia Pacific Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS

TITLE:  Coordinator, APN+ Positive IDU Working Group

LOCATION:  Bangkok, Thailand

REPORT TO:  Regional Coordinator, APN+

DURATION:  12 months (with possible extension)

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Plan, develop, implement, and manage the activities of the APN+ Positive IDU Working Group for APN+ Secretariat.  Working with the IDU Working Group and the APN+ Secretariat team to initiate, facilitate, coordinate and monitor the group’s activities and progress in achieving its goal of advocating for the needs of positive IDU in the Asia Pacific Region.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordination and Communication:

·         Manages the daily operational and administrative duties of the Working Group.

·         Develop and prepare Working Group communication and advocacy materials, including annual activity report, to help increase the visibility of the Group.

·         Ensure regular documentation and monitoring and evaluation of group activities.

·         Facilitate and develop communication strategies aimed to encourage and promote regular communication between the Working Group members.

·         Coordinate Group advocacy activities, campaigns and other related initiatives.

·         Provide regular Working Group updates and reports to the APN+ IDU Working Group members, the APN+ Regional Coordinator, and donors.

·         Liaison and partnering with organizations focusing and interest in providing support to positive IDU in the region.

·         Represent the Working Group in providing the voice of positive IDU at appropriate regional and international meetings, conferences, and forums.

·         Collaborate with APN+ Secretariat team to strengthen APN+ Network and the Working Group on the national, regional and international levels.

Technical Support:

·         Support IDU Working Group members in conducting research activities to identify and address the needs of positive IDU in the Asia Pacific region.

·         Support Group members in performing allocated Group roles, include providing technical, logistical and translation support to members when appropriate.

·         Organize and facilitate capacity building training workshops for IDU Work Group members and board members, APN+ Secretariat team, and other positive IDU support groups and organizations in the region.

Working Group Development and Maintenance:

·         Organize meetings of the APN+ IDU Working Group.

·         Identify additional funding sources and develop funding proposals in conjunction with the Group with the goal of scaling up Group activities and expanding Group memberships.

·         Actively participate in ongoing professional development and trainings on HIV and/or IDU related issues to enhance coordinator’s capacity in supporting the Working Group.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 3-4 years experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and/or treatment of positive IDU in the Asia Pacific Region.

    * Familiarity with IDU and/or positive IDU related issues, outreach, or services;
    * Strong ability to work independently, also collaboratively as member of APN+ team, function under time limit, multitasking, and relate to different people and organizations.
    * Able to communicate in English in both writing and verbal is required.
    * Relocation to Bangkok (if you are non Thai resident) and significant regional and international travel are requirements.
    * Knowledge of public health, HIV/AIDS and drug user policy issues, and exposure to IDU related outreach, treatment and care services.
    * Prior program management and/or coordination experience.
    * Experience in conducting quantitative and/or qualitative social research is a plus.
    * Computer literate especially in MS Word and Excel software, and the use of electronic communications such as email and web-based platforms required.
    * Fluency in one additional Asian language is a plus.

    I see that you are looking or have filled your position to this job application currently looking for someone to fill its Positive IDU Working Group Coordinator's position. The Positive IDU Working Group is a working group of APN+ for HIV Positive IDU in the Asia Pacific Region, I am HIV positive,also have been in the past a drug user, I am a pilates Tutor at present for Westminster Adult education, I have over 15years experience on HIV prevention and dealing with domination therapy, diagnosed in the last 2 years with Symptomatic illness from Hep C to TB, I very up to date with internet and web design to Microsoft word and office, I can go on with my list but want to get to the point if the job offer is still available I am very interested, even though the date has past, can not seem to find a reply for this position so the best I can do is post on here.
