Behaviour of men who have sex with men

The Population Council has published results of the baseline study of men who have sex with men for Link Up:

Two comments.

Firstly, the report notes that "This baseline assessment yields some noteworthy findings that highlight critical HIV knowledge gaps among Myanmar MSM, as well as the need to increase preventive behaviors such as condom use and HIV testing and counseling." HIV testing is NOT a preventive behaviour.

Secondly, among men who have sex with men who have tested for HIV, three quarters had done so in the last six months. Since testing negative does not change behaviour, regular repeat testing of negative men will have little impact on the epidemic.
