I am thrilled to share a significant milestone in our efforts to combat drug use problem in Myanmar.

The CPI AIS (https://lnkd.in/grZ3WpUX) team, in collaboration with our esteemed partners AHRN and MAM, has initiated the introduction of Buprenorphine (BPN) to facilitate Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) for Myanmar's estimated 93,000 drug users.

BPN provision has been launched in both Myitkyina and Yangon led by the National Drug Dependency Treatment and Research Unit. Last month, we administered BPN to three new clients, and the results have been nothing short of remarkable. These individuals have experienced improved treatment outcomes and greater stability in their conditions, which is a testament to the effectiveness of BPN as an alternative treatment option.

Buprenorphine's unique biological effects, characterized by partial agonism, make it a valuable addition to our OST program. It offers hope and a pathway to recovery for those struggling with opioid addiction in Myanmar.
