The International HIV/AIDS Alliance supports communities to meet the challenges of AIDS and build healthier communities. Our vision is a world in which people do not die of AIDS. Since 1994, the Alliance and its partners have supported over 3,000 projects, in over 40 countries, reaching millions of people.
The Alliance has been working in Myanmar since 2004 and currently supports over 30 local NGOs/CBOs to respond to HIV/AIDS. In 2008 we had an annual budget of $1.4million and 25 staff. We are currently recruiting for the post of Country Director: International HIV/AIDS Alliance in Myanmar, to start as quickly as possible.
The Director: Alliance Myanmar leads the work of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance in Myanmar and manages the staff of the Alliance Myanmar Office. This includes leading programmatic and organisational strategic development, actively fundraising for programme development, developing and implementing operational plans, ensuring the success of overall operations, pursuing partnerships in collaboration with other key stakeholders in HIV/AIDS work, representing the International HIV/AIDS Alliance in Myanmar and at relevant international forums, and advocating on key HIV/AIDS issues at regional, national and provincial levels.
The Director must have a strong commitment to the HIV/AIDS response, community and civil society development, and NGO development and management. S/he must have the skills to collaborate with partner organisations, motivate and manage staff, and be responsible for overall operations and finances. The Director must be able to ensure the establishment and effective management of programmes and activities in Myanmar, with support from different teams at the International HIV/AIDS Alliance Secretariat in the UK. The
Director must have qualities of leadership, strategic vision, patience and persistence, diplomacy and strong interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills
