Chinese and Burmese AIDS Activists Link Up Online
New Multi-lingual Site Connects Asian Groups

(August 8, 2011)—A new website is linking up HIV/AIDS advocates and groups around China and Burma (Myanmar), Hi! Asia said today. The site, Hi! Asia (HIV Information for Asia) http://hivasia.info/ is the first site to link communities with news and analysis in both languages. Its mission is to promote a better understanding of HIV/AIDS related issues impacting key affected populations in China, Burma and other Asian countries. The site is available in Chinese, Burmese, and English.

Hi! Asia is a merger of two websites, Asia Report (http://www.yazhoudiaocha.com/ ) and HIV Information for Myanmar (http://www.yazhoudiaocha.com/). It will combine on-the-ground reporting with analysis by prominent AIDS experts in China and Burma, profiles of NGOs, upcoming events and conferences, and job information.

To facilitate better HIV/AIDS service in an underserved region, Hi! Asia also provides a hotline consulting service for People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in Burma. For researchers, lawyers and advocates working to promote law reform in the region, Hi! Asia also has an extensive Asian AIDS law database searchable in Chinese and English.

The site is managed and edited by Chinese and Burmese editors and reporters. For more information, please contact
