Dear friends and comrades,
I am preparing a presentation about the successes and challenges of LGBTI organizations and networks in Asia and the Pacific in engaging with National and Regional Human Rights Institutions in advancing LGBTI rights. I have been asked to speak on this topic at a Workshop on the Role of National Human Rights Institutions in Promoting and Protecting the Rights and Health of LGBTI in Asia and the Pacific to be held in Bangkok on 24-25 February 2015 coordinated by the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF) and UNDP.
If your organization works in one of the countries listed below, and has engaged with National or Regional Human Rights Institutions, or you know of organizations that have done so, please write to me at dedeo@apcom.org. I will then send you a brief questionnaire (around 3-4 items) which I will ask you to fill in.
Please also share with me if you have papers or articles which discuss this matter, or at least how I can obtain them.
The Asia-Pacific countries with National Human Rights Institutions are:
  • Afghanistan
  • Australia
  • Bangladesh
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Jordan
  • Malaysia
  • Maldives
  • Mongolia
  • Myanmar
  • Nepal
  • New Zealand
  • Oman
  • Palestine
  • Philippines
  • Qatar
  • Samoa
  • South Korea
  • Sri Lanka
  • Thailand
  • Timor Leste
Thank you.
In solidarity
Dédé Oetomo
Chair, Asia Pacific Coalition on Male Sexual Health (APCOM)
