Dexamethasone has little impact on healthier patients

I was interested to read this excellent Frontier article on Covid19 coronavirus.

Read this carefully: "Current therapies – which include steroids like dexamethasone, convalescent plasma and remdesivir, an antiviral drug initially developed to treat hepatitis C – “have a higher success rate if administered before symptoms become severe”, said Dr Zaw Than Tun, director general of the government’s Department of Medical Research. “Once the patient is in critical condition and needs a ventilator, those therapies are less successful.”

Zaw Than Tun says “Once the patient is in critical condition and needs a ventilator, those therapies are less successful.”

He is *wrong*. Dexamethasone has a *greater* impact on sicker patients and little impact on healthier ones. We have known this for three months.
