DHS results are here

The report of the first Demographic and Health Survey for Myanmar has been released. Read it carefully. There are several different presentations of the findings on the website.

One of the key findings is that the Infant Mortality Rate is 40/1000 livebirths & the child mortality rate is 50/1000 livebirths. The range is 40 - 104. This needs to improve. A lot. It is helpful to see in which states and divisions there are high figures and where they are low.

The HIV section is not very useful. One interesting finding is in Table 13.8 which shows that richer & more educated men pay for sex more often.

One key characteristic of DHS surveys is that they are consistent for each country. Not much changes in the questions from one round to the next. So trends and trajectories are easily seen. I already look forward to the next one.
