Funding for community networks

There is a close deadline for community networks to apply for Robert Carr Fund funding. Those of us who met Robert hope that his spirit can carry on in action by networks.

The recently launched Robert Carr civil society Networks Fund seeks to provide a funding stream that will address key gaps in resourcing needs of global and regional civil society and community networks through providing funding for:

core costs (all costs related to management, core and support staff – not exclusively related to projects – and office costs), and
program activities that are directly linked to the results framework (the network’s main goals and objectives; not exclusively related to time limited and/or freestanding projects).

Who is eligible to apply?

Global networks, regional networks and alliances of networks (a combination of global and regional, or otherwise) that:

Are non-profit organizations (e.g., NGOs, CBOs, and other charitable organizations);
Focus in their work on HIV/AIDS and directly related issues (75% of activities and spending); and
Have strong management and leadership, and have the capacity to carry out the proposed activities, monitor contribution to outcomes within an agreed results framework, and to effectively manage the requested grant.

The Fund hopes to offer up to USD$5 million in funding during its first year. Proposals must request between USD$50,000-$500,000 (per network/per year) and can apply for grant support up to three years.

All proposals must be received by 1 September 2012.

Full details, eligibility requirements and application documents can be found on the Aids Fonds website / http://www.aidsfonds.nl/rc-nf/proposals-request.htm
