Comment: Home based care - A missing component in the AIDS in Asia report (1)

Dear SEA-AIDS members and Gillian Fletcher,
I fully agree to your comment on providing home-based care (HBC) which is so necessary for HIV patients. I have a Care Centre and am providing home based care for children with HIV/AIDS for 6 years in a small village in Mon State, Myanmar.
Currently, our group is under the umbrella of International HIV/AIDS Alliance. There are 40 HIV positive people including 10 children below the age of 10. Out of the 40 people, 18 are on ART for more than 10 months. Without home-based care the ART treatment would not be a success.
At the moment, we have two male patients in the centre who need constant care and they are showing progress day by day. 10 children and 3 adults are also with us always at the centre. The name of our CBO is Myitta Kyaemone (Mirror of Charity).
There are 11 full time staffs including 4 who are HIV positive.
With best wishes,
Martha
