I. Program Features

II. Required Credits and Time Limit for Graduation:
(1) Required credits: 80 credits (MPH students are required to successfully complete 80 credit units for graduation)
(2) Time limit for graduation: Students are expected to complete the MPH degree within three years after matriculation.
(3) Each student is required to complete an Individualized MPH Goals Analysis Project within two weeks before the end of the second term.
(4) Each student is required to complete an MPH capstone project for graduation. The MPH capstone project requires both written and oral components.
III. TEACHING FORMAT
The MPH Program for health professionals in the Asia Pacific Rim region will be completed between 2-3 years. Courses will be conducted in Baltimore, sites in the Asia Pacific Rim region, and online.
• The program will include intensive face-to-face courses in Baltimore, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health campus, and also Asia Pacific site.
• Students will also take Internet courses
• Students will complete the program by presenting capstone projects in a Capstone Symposium
The Asia Pacific Rim cohort of the MPH program will officially begin in January, 2010.
Students are welcome to take up to 16 credits as a non-degree seeking student between now and the January 2010 orientation in Baltimore. All of these credits would be applied to the MPH degree.
Hopkins offers two courses in Hong Kong this summer of June, 2009 designated for this cohort. The students may also enroll in online courses offered by the School.
While the MPH for health professionals is a School-wide program, some courses will be customized to address regional needs in specific health services.

VI. COURSES
The curriculum of the MPH Program for professionals in the Asia Pacific Rim region will include courses in:
• Biostatistics and Epidemiology
• Environmental Health Sciences
• Public Health Biology
• Health Policy and Leadership & Management
• International Health
• Social and Behavioral Science
VII. Application Criteria:
- Baccalaureate degree
- Two years of post-baccalaureate health-related work experience or a doctoral degree in a field underlying public health.
- Scores of the GRE, MCAT, GMAT, or LSAT are required of all MPH applicants. Applicants who have an advanced degree beyond the baccalaureate may elect to have their application reviewed by the MPH admissions committee without a standardized test score. However, they may be putting themselves at a disadvantage, particularly if their admission materials do not demonstrate significant quantitative and analytical skills.
- Applicants from countries where English is not the primary language must submit official scores from the TOEFL or IELTS. A minimum TOEFL score of 250 on the computer-based test, 600 on the paper-based, or 100 on the Internet-based test, OR a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or above is required for admission into the MPH Program.
All applicants must summit following items:
1. Paper application booklet
2. Resume or CV
3. Personal statement
4. Three recommendation letters
5. Official academic records (transcripts or mark sheets) from each college or university attended beyond secondary level
6. TOEFL (or IELTS) and GRE (or GMAT) official score letters
7. Applicants can provide the publications or academic projects which have been published or completed in English. These would be beneficial for the application.
VIII. Fees:
1. Application Fee:US$165(including US$150 application fee and mailing fee)
2. The total tuition fee is US$81,500, including the tuition fee and administrative fee. The fee will be paid in installments.
3. The traveling fee for the face to face classes is additional spending.
