Involving the Silenced: including non-English speaking HIV+ sex workers in HIV and treatment policy debates
Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers
Cambodia and Myanmar
Grant Amount USD 10,000
Established in 1993, APNSW works in 17 countries in Asia and the Pacific. Targeting two countries with the highest number of HIV+ sex workers, the project will contract support and resource persons for Cambodia and Myanmar who will facilitate communication in two directions: from the international treatments access movement, as represented through ITPC and other sources, to local HIV+ sex workers, and from local HIV+ sex workers to the international movement. Because of language and literacy issues, non-English speaking HIV positive sex workers have not been involved in treatment policy debates internationally: this innovative project aims to change that.
