More on depression

Here is a comment on the article on depression posted in [him] 2448 yesterday:

"The article gives the ostensible Burmese expression for depression as "sate kya yaw ga" and says the literal translation is "feeling down". Two small points - the "yaw ga" means "disease", so the literal translation should probably include that. Second, I have heard people / seen dictionaries give depression as "seiq dat kya" - the spirit is down / has fallen. Do other Burmese speakers of this blog agree?"

Depression causes the most disability-adjusted life years lost of any mental illness in Myanmar. More than drugs. More than alcohol. Hmmm?
