More on progress towards the global HIV 95-95-95 targets

Thank you to a loyal reader who has developed this analysis of the number of people on HIV antiretroviral treatment in Myanmar.

**********

Total # of people on ART and the percentage of people living with HIV who are on ART.

???,??? - 66% (2018) This is based on reasonably accurate data.
167,000 - 70% (2019) This is based on reasonably accurate data.
184,624 - 76% (2020) This is based on reasonably accurate data. Up to 2020 was the heyday period for HIV activities. Even when Covid disrupted everything in the middle of the year, service numbers were maintained.
184,697 - ??% (2021) This is an impossible number unless they were refering to only January 2021.
190,641 - 70% (2022) This is very doubtful figure considering the weakened management of the program, the reduction of human resources, instability in many townships where dispensaries operate, mass displacement of populations in-country and across borders, and fear towards or declining trust in the public sector services. This was the time when community-based providers reported many PLHIV (up to a third of their lists) became "lost to follow up". Many showed up in neighboring countries (India and Thailand) and some of them were provided ART there. But only after disruptions for some months hinting drug resistance may be an issue coming up more than expected.
208,480 - 74% (2023) Ditto.
