If Myanmar has failed in controlling dengue then what hope is there for it to control Zika. Both diseases are spread by the same mosquito.

Testing doesn't help.

Myanmar joins labs in India, Thailand to test Zika virus

Myanmar has partnered with the Chulalongkorn University lab in Thailand and the NIV-Pune lab in India to test patients for the Zika virus, sources say.

Health officials in Myanmar said they have already acquired equipment to test for the Zika virus in their lab. The Department of Public Health is monitoring the spread of the virus and offering public education about it.

The department has encouraged the killing of mosquitoes in monasteries, religious schools, houses, markets, drains, government buildings, relief camps, schools, dormitories, highway bus gates, harbours, factories and construction sites.

The Zika virus, which spreads through mosquito bites, is likely to infect in people in countries where dengue fever is common. Myanmar is home to regular dengue fever outbreaks is included among the countries where the Zika virus is likely to spread. The epidemic can be controlled by killing Aedes mosquitoes.

The virus was first found in monkeys in Uganda in 1947. It spread to humans in Uganda and Tanzania in 1952. The virus spread across the Pacific region, the Americas and Africa. The effects of the virus are particularly severe in 13 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean where it has reached pandemic levels.
