The new UNAIDS universal access report: Towards Universal Access: Scaling Up Priority HIV/AIDS Interventions in the Health Sector highlights expanded HIV testing and counselling and improved access to prevention services and ART. Myanmar is hardly mentioned in the report though it is included in the tables in the back. They provide some thought-provoking comparison figures ...
Myanmar has one fourth the number of HIV tests per population unit as Cambodia. p20
Myanmar has, at 71%, a greater proportion of sex workers tested than any other country in Asia p 22
Myanmar has 300 new patients per month being started on ART. Even PEPFAR-focus and grossly overfunded Vietnam only had 800 p 135
And here is the only time Myanmar is mentioned in the text of the report: "Striking the right balance between international and domestic funding is a challenge for sustainable financing for HIV programmes. In many countries, (such as Myanmar and Papua New Guinea), antiretroviral therapy is funded entirely or almost entirely by funds provided by international donors."
Right.
