MYANMAR (BURMA)
AVIL DRUG USER NETWORK TRAINING
UNODC Myanmar, as part of its responsibility for managing the HAARP Country Program, hosted a project planning workshop from 18 to 22 May for the National Drug Users’ Network in Myanmar. Two international consultants from the Australian Intravenous Users’ League, Ruth Birgin and Ele Morrison, led twenty-five representatives from 15 drug-related self-help groups and facilitated the development of an activity plan for the year 2011–2012, based on four objectives identified by the network members. Seven counterpart officials from HAARP project sites attended the training. The workshop also addressed the needs of female IDUs, and identified means for enhancing the active involvement of female network members in planning and decision-making.
