(Official) Myanmar Country Report - Follow-Up to the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS or UNGASS

The attached official country report by the government of Myanmar that was finally submitted to the meeting organisers for the High Level Meeting is dull.

Three of the four interesting findings previously presented to nongovernmental organisations and UN system organisations that the shadow report highlighted last week have been removed. You can read the shadow report on [him] 26 and http://www.hivinfo4mm.org/blog/_archives/2006/5/2/1926102.html

In this official report on the UNAIDS website http://www.unaids.org/en/Publications/2005ungassreporting/default.asp there is no reference to the lack of a strategy for the military, almost a third of men surveyed having extramarital partners, or unrealistic data on care for sexually transmitted diseases. It is only in the Excel file part that the sexual behaviour data is buried.

It is worth noting that the budgetary allocation for HIV has increased almost four fold to $US 78,000 a year.
