UNAIDS has a new publication: Unite with Women Unite against Violence. https://tinyurl.com/modopjt
It rightly points out that violence against women is associated with HIV acquisition. What is not stated is whether preventing violence against women has any impact on HIV acquisition. There is no evidence it does.
Violence against women is a human rights violation and must be stopped. In the absence of evidence that preventing violence against women has any impact on HIV, is it right to spend HIV prevention funding on preventing violence against women?
Comments welcome.
