Science addressing drugs and HIV

There weren't many highlights at the UN General Assembly Session on Drugs 2016. Here is one. It was called Science Addressing Drugs and HIV: State of the Art. And was organized by the Governments of Romania, Germany, Norway, Switzerland and Kazakhstan, the United Nations office on Drugs and Crime, UNAIDS and the World Health Organization.

You can download all the presentations from this Dropbox link. Des Jarlais's one on stimulants including methamphetamine is especially good. There are three special issues with methamphetamine use:

Expectations for increased sexual pleasure
Disorganized lifestyle among very heavy users: runs and crashes
Lack of scalable effective treatments

And it is worth pointing out that there is as yet *no* evidence that harm reduction decreases HIV incidence among methamphetamine users.
