Two new COVID-19 cases detected in Myanmar, taking case count to 184

Two new COVID-19 cases were reported in Myanmar as at 8pm on May 17. Both the patients are from Yangon.
Case 183 is a 57-year-old male from Mayangone township in Yangon Region with no previous contact with an infected person and no travel history abroad.
Case 184 is a 41-year-old male from Pazundaung township and recently returned to Myanmar from Malaysia. Both patients have been admitted to Wai Bar Gyi Hospital.
The National Health Laboratory and Department of Medical Research in Yangon Region tested 386 people in the latest batch.
From January 31 to May 17 at 11:30 am, the government tested 13,999 people for the disease, the health ministry said.
To date, Myanmar has reported 184 COVID-19 cases with six deaths and 97 recoveries, according to the health ministry data. Yangon now accounts for 149 of all COVID-19 cases in the country.
Among the 97 recoveries are two reported on May 17. They are Case 146, a 32-year-old woman who came into contact with an employee (Case 139) from Pan Pacific Yangon.
The other recovery is Case 156, a 33-year-old male from Nay Pyi Taw.
