I was reminded the other night that Steiner's children slept under bednets in Fellini's La Dolce Vita. Malaria wasn't eliminated in Italy until ten years later in 1970.

7-year award from the US National Institutes of Health

The CGIS is very pleased to announce a new, 7-year award from the US National Institutes of Health for the Myanmar Center of Excellence for Malaria Research (support by the National Institute Of Allergy And Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number U19AI129386). This project will have a significant geospatial component and the CGIS is excited to be a member of the research team for this project. CGIS Director Kathleen Stewart is Mapping Core Lead for the project and will work with Dr. Tatiana Loboda on 'Satellite and Geospatial Dynamic Modeling of Malaria Risk'.
