An anonymous informant of HIV Information for Myanmar [him] has reported that there are stock outs of HIV test kits in the PMTCT programme.
"These stock outs mean that even when pregnant women come for a prenatal HIV test, so that they can be started on ARVs in time to prevent transmission to their newborn, they are turned away without testing. This is an ongoing tragedy for both mothers and children. The newly authorized free press needs to monitor this ongoing tragedy"
Does anyone know how many test kits the National AIDS Programme distributes or needs every year? I have never seen an accounting or an accurate projection figure.
