Interesting that the Minister thinks that Thailand's success in responding to the epidemic is the reason the Executive Board will meet in Thailand, rather than political influence. The reason can't be Thailand's TB/HIV activities. They are recognised as weak.

Thailand to host 22nd UNAIDS meeting
Thailand will host the 22nd executive committee meeting of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/Aids in April on the topic "Tuberculosis and HIV infection".
"Thailand was selected by UNAIDS's executive committee to be the host of the next high level meeting because it succeeded in HIV prevention," Public Health Minister Mongkol Na Songkhla said yesterday.
UNAIDS is responsible for helping the world prevent new HIV infections, care for people living with HIV and mitigate the impact of the epidemic.
Tuberculosis and HIV are still major health problems in many countries around the world, but particularly in Africa and Asia.
Some 300 health experts and delegates from 25 countries will participate in the meeting and discuss ways to control the spread of TB and HIV infections particularly with high technology and human resources development.
Most people living with HIV are also inflicted with TB. If the world could reduce TB among people living with HIV, their mortality rate would go down.
