IUATLD to distribute ARTS in Myanmar

International Union Against TB and Lung Diseases (IUATLD) is to provide medicines for people living with HIV/AIDS who are in need of Anti Retroviral Treatment Drugs (ART) at Specialist Hospital (Thaketa)
The UATLD will provide ARTs to about 200 people living with HIV/AIDS receiving treatments at Specialist Hospital (Thaketa) as of this year.
“At present, people from Yangon as well as from other towns are receiving treatments as inpatients there. In addition to ARTs, medicines for TB and other HIV related opportunistic infections, laboratory technology and equipments will also be provided for the patients in cooperation with the IUATLD in the future,” said a responsible official from the AIDS project of the Health Department. The Thaketa Specialist Hospital has been treating people living with HIV/AIDS since 5 August 2010.
