HIV VCD shoot wraps up

THE Myanmar Medical Association (MMA) has almost finished shooting a VCD of 10 educational songs about HIV/AIDS in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), said a senior medical official.
Dr Ne Win, the secretary of the association’s General Practitioners’ Society, said the songs were composed and performed by youths who had made the finals of an HIV/AIDS singing contest organised by MMA and UNFPA last January.
“The video shoot was also directed and the parts were played by young people who had attended life skills trainings offered by the association,” he said,
He said that when production is complete the VCD will be distributed for free to other organisations for use in health education programs targeting young people. He also said assessments were now being made about HIV/AIDS educational messages produced by young people throughout the country at a meeting last June organised by the Department of Health, UNFPA and United Nations Children’s Fund in Yangon.
“The messages are now undergoing pre-test evaluations among youths to determine their effectiveness,” he said. “They will be used for educational handouts, pamphlets, posters and notebooks along with interesting cartoons.”
