Two notes about malaria

Objective written public analysis of malaria and malaria control in Myanmar is rare. Here is an excellent blog post based on the new DHS data.

Myanmar – update on malaria indicators

On another note, I was not pleased by the characterisation of malaria patients by a person quoted in this article https://t.co/ZecJvHjEBQ. “The last person with malaria in this region will be illiterate, poor, from an ethnic minority, living near a forest and doing something illegal,” said Mr Louis Da Gama, a member of the Regional Artemisinin-resistance Initiative Steering Committee.

I'm not sure this is very respectful of vulnerable people. Is Louis Da Gama representing civil society on the Regional Artemisinin-resistance Initiative Steering Committee because he lives in the region? What civil society organisation does he represent?
